Tuition at the Anchorage Waldorf School, like the curriculum itself, takes a holistic approach, balancing all aspects (social, financial, etc.) and working to meet each family where they are. We feel strongly that a Waldorf education should be available to any child regardless of financial circumstance, and we balance this belief with the practical realities of our school’s financial requirements.
Tuition and Fees 2015-2016:
A $500 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration to secure a position in the class, unless applying for Tuition Assistance (see the Financial Adjustment section below).
- Returned check fee: $20.00
- Late payment fee (after the 10th of each month): $40.00
- Optional morning and afternoon care for children ages 5 and above:
beginning at 7:30am / available until 6pm – $6/hour (pre-arranged contract) or $8/hour (drop-in)
Our tuition adjustment program embodies the school’s commitment to enter into a relationship with members of our community and become aware of the needs and gifts of each member. We view the adjusted tuition as a contribution to our income rather than a reduction. The program does not lessen our strong sense of fiscal responsibility. On the contrary, it requires thorough budget preparation and ongoing review to maintain the tuition adjustment program’s integrity as well as the values and ideals of Waldorf education. Families can either choose to take advantage of the Sibling Discount or Tuition Assistance programs.
After paying one full tuition, families receive a 20% discount for a second child, and 50% discount for any additional children enrolled at the school.
Tuition assistance is available on the basis of demonstrated need for students 5 years old on May 31, 2015 and older. If you believe that your resources are not sufficient to meet the total cost of an Anchorage Waldorf School education, you are encouraged to apply for tuition assistance. Anchorage Waldorf School uses TADS, a financial assessment organization, to provide a framework through which household need can be measured fairly and equitably.
Applications for tuition assistance may be completed online at http://www.mytads.com; there is a $45 processing fee. In addition, families may submit a narrative statement of need and/or special circumstances addressed to the Tuition Adjustment Committee at Anchorage Waldorf School to provide the fullest picture possible to inform how best to support your family.
Recommendations from TADS will be sent to Anchorage Waldorf School’s Tuition Adjustment Committee and we will use this information, along with your narrative responses, to award tuition assistance each school year.
A $250 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration to secure a position in a class if applying for Tuition Assistance.
The following documentation should be submitted to TADS by March 27, 2015 to be included in the first round of tuition assistance allocations for the 2015/2016 academic year:
- 2014 federal tax forms
- W-2s from each job held by household members
- Most recent pay stub for each job held by household members
- Documents that establish the amount of miscellaneous monthly or annual income household members receive
- All corporate, partnership, and trust forms if a household member owns 20% or more interest in a corporation, partnership or trust
A second round of tuition assistance allocations will be considered following a June 1, 2015 TADS submission deadline. A limited number of allocations may be issued for subsequent mid-year enrollment on an as-needed basis.
