Fall Gala 2012 – Event Report and Thanks
Thank you to all of the attendees, sponsors, donors, and volunteers who made this year’s Gala a huge success. Our 6th Annual Fall Fundraiser was held at the Alaska Native Heritage Center on November 10, 2012. Members of our extended school community came together for an evening of conversation, browsing silent auction items, sampling handcrafted beer generously donated by the Kingry family and King Street Brewery, and enjoying live music performed by Mary Schallert’s quartet. The bidding in the live auction was spirited and generous, especially for the handmade projects created by our children – beautiful felted scenes, a glass tile mosaic, paintings, a glass platter, and a wooden chess table with pieces.
Through this event, the school raised over $120,000, including $48,000 towards our “fund-a-need” drive to support the professional development of faculty. This essential income for the School will help us to support our teachers in pursuing ongoing learning through course study, workshops and training. Our Gala theme, “Inspired Possibilities”, was fulfilled by this spectacular evening bringing together current and past families and teachers, and friends of the School.
Thank you for investing in our children and helping to ensure that Anchorage Waldorf School continues to be a growing and thriving source of independent education in Alaska. We hope you will join us at future events in the years to come!
